A: The word Kollywood is derived from the Tamil word for Hen - Kolly. Tamil movies run like hens and can only repeat Baak-Baak-Baak stories. Wood in Tamil translates to 'kattai'. Since good woods act in movies we call Tamil industry Kollywood.
Q: When are Tamil Movies released in theatres?
A: Most often, when there's a power cut in your area. Also when somebody wants to commit suicide, a movie is released. These days though they are released in Sun TV.
Q: How to identify a Tamil Movie from the huge list of movies released.
A: It's so simple. The one's with English titles are Tamil Movies.
Q: Who is the leading star in Kollywood?
A: Ask me. I would say Captain Vijayakant. Only married men go Captains movies. Now more and more youngsters are also watching his movie to get annealed to tackle the vagaries of life.

A: You have a misconception. Is Namitha plump..Naa..she's cute.

A. That’s' a tough question. Umm..ok..if you exhibit the following qualities then you stand a chance
If you are a boy and apply lipstick, makeup etc

If you talk non stop for 3 hours and at the end, noone comprehends what you said. (IT managers automatically qualify)
If you are 4 feet tall and 6 feet wide (for guys) 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide (without makeup)/4.5 feet wide (with makeup..for gals)

i don't think, what you gave explanation about "kollywood" is true !!!
Hollywood is the root cause for these type of naming...
You all know that the name bollywood came first before kollywood. Since bombay is a hub for hindi movies they named it as bombay+hollywood = bollywood.
here kodambakkam is a hub for tamil movies. so tamil film industry named tamil movies as kodambakkam + hollywood = kollywood !!!
